The Art of Surprise
The Art of Surprise, also known as Intuitive Art, is the art of self expression using different types of art mediums to draw, paint, sketch, spatter, whatever may arise. It is meant to be open, flowing, allowing and free of judgement. It is about letting go of the idea of perfection. It is giving self permission to just be!
The Art of Surprise is a beautiful & fun way to release, refresh and bloom! Yes, it can be intimidating, a little scary and a bit prickly at first. So let us go together, “barefoot in the desert” and explore the hidden treasures that we all have within. Through gentle instruction and awakened by you, you will be surprised at what blooms!
• It was a September in Sedona, AZ ~ a beautiful combination. I had been invited by a dear friend to bring intuitive art to her incredible creekside writing retreat. I was honored and blessed beyond by the amazing women that attended. For many of them, art of any kind was a bit intimidating. With a little encouragement they gave themselves permission to give it a try. What bloomed from every heart to hand was absolutely spectacular! One of the lovely ladies wrote, “Jana was a joy, patient, kind …she helped me break past the fear of picking up a paintbrush.” Another lovely lady wrote, “Thank you for being a guiding, artistic, light!”
• On a cool evening in November of 2019, a young man attended a group class with his girlfriend. He shared that he was in medical school and exams were coming up causing some anxiety. He wasn’t quite sure what he was going to get out of attending this art session but said he was willing to give it a try! By the end of his “Art Of Surprise” experience he was ready to bring all of his fellow classmates back to another session, expressing, “This was just what I needed to take my mind away from studies for awhile!”
